CrossFit is and always has been a huge supporter or our armed forces. We simply wouldn’t have the freedoms we have today if it wasn’t for the heroes that have served and are serving our country. CrossFit honors many fallen soldiers by naming WODs after them. Today we will honor one of those soldiers by doing such a WOD.
The hero WODs are known to be some of the tougher WODs, and rightfully so. It is to remind us that no matter what we are struggling with at that moment in time it pales in comparison to laying down your life. We will modify and scale this WOD so that everyone can participate and I truly do hope that we have the best turnout we’ve ever had for this one. The goal is not to say I had the best time but to say I did it out of respect. It will be a humbling experience.

In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.
This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.
